8:30PM local time, wherever you live on planet earth. Saturday 28 March 2009
Now is the time to send a message to all the world on how dedicated we are to protecting our home - Mother Earth. All over the world, residents, companies and governments are turning out their lights to highlight the threat of climate change.
For 1 hour on Saturday, March 28th, 2009 - starting at 8:30 pm the world will turn out the lights. Join on http://www.earthhour.org/.
Watch the planet go dark one time zone at a time as satellite pictures capture the beauty of darkness and energy conservation across the globe.
Beginning in 2007 - Sydney turned off the lights. That single event in Australia cut 10% of their energy usage. In 2008 the word had spread so that over 277 cities had turned off the lights.
Now in 2009 we have millions signed up to turn off their lights and over 538 cities in 78 countries.
Spread the news with fliers you can download straight from the site to hang at universities, coffee shops, stores and more. Even Google is joining the event by turning its background black each year for Earth hour.
Thank you for supporting this very important cause!
